This Rush series is a move onto canvas incorporating compositions and techniques developed in my previous work on newsprint, the Daily series. Rush paintings are a rigid adaption of the loose throw away style afforded by working on newsprint. The Daily and Rush series titles come from film terminology referring to the first positive prints made to review at the end of a days work on set.
The Rush paintings incorporate movement with colour assemblage to create semi-abstract, semi-representational imagery. They also are the my first developments toward landscape painting consisting of simple colour blocks to denote immense forms of natural architecture.
